The headboard is a rugged slab with gnarled, burl-like edges, deep natural voids and knots, kept as the tree grew. It stands behind a thick floating platform with live edges on all sides. Each headboard is different, so yours will not match the photos exactly. Cut and finished by hand to order.

A gnarled slab behind the pillows

The headboard keeps the lumpy, burl-like outline of the wood, with knots and deep natural voids running through it.

A floating platform with edges all round

The thick platform has live edges on all four sides and sits on a base set back out of view, so it seems to hover. The wood shows past the mattress as a wide, uneven ledge.

Yes. They are natural voids in the slab, left open as part of the look.
