A twisted trunk starts at the floor and slants across the wall, branching into four long shelves. The shelves reach out over a sofa or bench and leave plenty of wall showing. It works as an open, low-key bookshelf rather than a full bookcase. Made to order in solid wood, finished by hand and secured to the wall.

Leaning across the wall

A twisted trunk slanting over the sofa

The trunk starts at the floor in the corner and leans hard to the right, twisting as it goes, then breaks into thin branches at the top. Four long shelves hang off it and reach out over the back of a sofa.

Driftwood-style twist at the base

Near the floor the trunk is at its thickest, with deep twists and grooves carved along its length. It thins as it rises, which keeps the upper half light.

Why the slant works over seating

Clears the sofa back

The trunk leans away from the corner, so the shelves sit above the sofa rather than beside it.

Lots of wall stays bare

With only four shelves the wall still reads open and calm.

Branch tips over the top shelf
