About this piece

Scallop Shell Back Bench, Carved Solid Wood Entryway Bench with Wide-Ribbed Shell Backrest and Curving Branch Arms, 40 to 83 Inch

Wide, rounded ribs fan up from the seat into a scallop shell with a softly waved top edge. The arms are shaped like curving branches, and the flat seat stands on legs that curve gently at the foot. It suits an entry, a hallway, a porch or the end of a bed. Carved and finished by hand to order.

Somewhere to sit and pull on boots

Live-edge shoe benches with a lower shelf, slab-leg benches with a backrest and a carved-log garden bench — each cut from solid natural wood and hand-finished to order.

Live edge solid wood bench in an entryway

Three places it earns its spot

Entryway

Sit, take shoes off and slide them onto the lower shelf.

Hallway

A backrest bench gives a long hall a place to pause.

Garden or porch

The log-frame bench brings the same wood outside — under cover is kindest to it.

Shoe bench, slab legs, backrest or log frame

The live edge is the armrest

The seat keeps the natural edge of the board, with sweeping or flared slab ends cut from the same timber, so the bench reads as one piece of wood.

Grain and knots vary piece to piece — the character of real wood.

Bench basics

Can it go outside?
Keep it under cover — a porch or covered patio — and re-oil each season; solid wood left in rain will grey and move.
Does it need assembly?
Smaller benches arrive ready to use; larger ones may need legs or a backrest bolted on, fixings included.
How do I choose a length?
Allow about 18–20" of seat per person; the size changes the price.
Do the four tones cost the same?
Yes — Black, Brown, Walnut and Oak are one price; only the size changes it.
