A freestanding island topped with a thick butcher block of knotty planks, grain and pin knots left on show. The base is a paneled cabinet with plank doors and round knobs, giving closed storage below. The top overhangs at one side so stools tuck under. Made to order and finished by hand.

A closer look

The middle of the kitchen

Prep, gather and store in one solid wood kitchen island. A chunky butcher block top over real drawers and shelves — grain and knots that exist nowhere else.

  • Four tones · one price
Solid pine kitchen island with butcher-block top, drawers and a slatted lower shelf

One piece, three jobs

A top you work on

A thick solid-wood prep table surface for chopping, rolling and serving — sealed and made to wear in, not out.

Storage where you stand

This kitchen island with storage — deep drawers, a cabinet or open pot shelves — keeps tools and pans at hand, not across the room.

Seating on the overhang

A kitchen island with seating: leave the top proud on one side and pull up stools — breakfast, homework and a glass of wine.

One idea, many builds

Low view of a farmhouse kitchen island with a beadboard cabinet base and stool overhang

Built like furniture, not a flat-pack

Dovetailed drawers, a slatted or panelled base and iron pulls — this farmhouse kitchen island is joined and finished by hand so it stands square and heavy in the room.

Every island is made to order; the grain and knots in yours are one of one.

Before you order

What height do I get?
Each listing states it — counter height is 36" and bar height is 40". Pick to match your stools and worktops.
Can I choose the storage layout?
The photos show each rustic kitchen island build — drawers, a closed cabinet or open pot shelves. Tell us if you want a specific mix.
Do the four tones cost the same?
Yes — only the size changes the price. Both finishes are the same price too.
Is the top sealed for food?
Yes — the wood kitchen island top is finished to handle prep and spills; wipe clean and it deepens in colour over the years.

Anchor the kitchen in real wood

Made to order and built to stay — the handmade kitchen island your open plan has been missing.
