Four ways to top a table

Grain you can follow across the whole top

Because each top is one solid piece of wood rather than a veneer, the swirls, rings and flame figure run right through it, and the edges are shaped by hand to follow the board.

Grain, knots and edge outline vary piece to piece, the character of real wood.

Choosing your size

  1. 01

    Measure the base

    Your top should overhang the base or legs by a few inches on every side for knee room and balance.
  2. 02

    Round tops

    Smaller rounds suit a bistro base for two; the larger rounds seat a family. Allow about 24 in of edge per person.
  3. 03

    Rectangles and slabs

    Check length, depth and thickness against your island, bar or trestle. Bigger sizes cost more.

Table top questions

Are legs or a base included?
No. You receive the solid wood top only. It suits a metal or wood base, trestle, pedestal or cabinet you already have or buy separately.
How is the size given?
Every size is listed as width x depth x thickness. Round tops list the diameter and thickness.
How do I attach it?
Fix it from underneath with screws or brackets suited to your base, leaving a little room for the wood to move with the seasons.
How do I care for it?
Use coasters and trivets, wipe spills promptly and re-oil when the surface looks dry.
Do the four tones cost the same?
Yes — Black, Brown, Walnut and Oak are one price; only the size changes it.
